WATCH: Nigeria batsman Sulaimon Runsewe runs off the ground for bathroom break vs Canada
Sulaimon Runsewe runs off the ground: The qualifier match witnessed a hilarious incident during the Nigerian innings in Abu Dhabi.
During the 18th match of the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Qualifier between Nigeria and Canada in Abu Dhabi, Nigeria batsman Sulaimon Runsewe was seen running off the ground for a washroom break.
While the reason behind the same was unknown initially, Runsewe created a lot of confusion for both players and fans after he ran into the dressing room at the end of the eighth over. The break had extended to the extent that Nigeria captain Ademola Onikoyi had started to walk in to bat.
It was at this point in time that the umpires gestured Onikoti to return back to the dugout. Meanwhile, Runsewe was seen tying his thigh pad before entering the ground. Once Runsewe entered the ground, he was cheered by applauds from both the spectators and his teammates.
As far as the match is concerned, Canada registered a 50-run victory to win their second match in the tournament. Chasing a 160-run target, Nigeria ended up scoring 109/8 in 20 overs. Coming in to bat at No. 4 in the second over, Chimezie Onwuzulike top-scored with 39 (31) with the help of three fours and a six.
With bowling figures of 4-0-16-3, Dillon Heyliger was the pick of the bowlers for Canada. After Canada captain Navneet Dhaliwal won the toss and chose to bat, his team scored 159/7 in 20 overs on the back of Nitish Kumar’s 57* (36) with the help of five fours and a six.
