Yuvraj Singh asserts that India need better selectors; says current committee not up to the mark
Yuvraj Singh asserts that India need better selectors: The former all-rounder found faults with the current crop of selectors.
Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has continued to criticize the current selection committee headed by former India wicket-keeper batsman MSK Prasad. The 37-year old has been critical about the selectors laying emphasis on the “Yo Yo” test for selecting a player in the past.
Having retired from international cricket earlier this year, Yuvraj captained Toronto Nationals in the second season of the Global T20 League 2019. Yuvraj will now represent Maratha Arabians in the Abu Dhabi T10 League.

“We do need better selectors, for sure. Selectors’ job is not easy. Whenever they select 15 players, there will be talks that what will happen to the other 15. It’s a difficult job but their thinking in terms of modern-day cricket is not up to the mark. It’s my opinion.
“I am always in favour of protecting the players and being positive about them. By talking negative about your players and team doesn’t show you in true light. The character only shows when things are going wrong and you motivate the players. In bad times, everyone talks bad. We definitely need better selectors,” Yuvraj was quoted as saying.
On Shivam Dube being compared to him
The social media handles of the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) uploaded a video of all-rounder Shivam Dube batting in the nets before the first T20I of the ongoing Bangladesh’s tour of India in Delhi. Within to time, the Mumbai and Royal Challengers Bangalore player was being compared to Yuvraj across social media platforms.

Being asked about the same, Yuvraj spoke against Dube being compared to him. While Yuvraj acknowledged Dube’s talent, he expected batting coach Vikram Rathour to work with him and identify his mistakes.
“Let the guy start his career first, and after a while when he reaches a certain level, then you start comparing him with someone. I don’t think he should be compared to me. He should make his own name. He has the talent.
“There are a couple of things that need to worked on his game. I am not sure if they will be able to identify where he is making the mistakes. Vikram Rathour is the batting coach, he needs to identify where he is making mistake,” Yuvraj said.
