WATCH: Marnus Labuschagne appeals hilariously against Henry Nicholls in Perth Test
Marnus Labuschagne appeals hilariously against Henry Nicholls: The Australian all-rounder was “100%” confident of the faintest nick.
During the second day of the first Test of the ongoing New Zealand’s tour of Australia in Perth, Australia all-rounder Marnus Labuschagne appeared absolutely confident of his team dismissing New Zealand batsman Henry Nicholls.
It all happened on the last delivery of the 27th over when Australia fast bowler Mitchell Starc beat Nicholls outside the off-stump. With the ball dashing past Nicholls’ outside edge, no one but short-leg fielder Marnus Labuschagne put on display a full-throated appeal against the batsman.
With the umpire ruling the decision in the batsman’s favour, Labuschagne couldn’t believe that the batsman survived. “I 100% heard the faintest nick,” Labuschagne was heard saying on the stump mic after the umpire made his decision.

“Did you hear that,” Labuschagne then asked another Australian player to be in disagreement with the umpire’s decision.
Having survived against Starc here, Nicholls eventually edged a Starc delivery in his following over albeit down the leg-side. Coming in to bat at No. 5 in the 23rd over, Nicholls ended up scoring 7 (18).
After Australia captain Tim Paine won the toss and chose to bat yesterday, the home team scored 416/10 in 146.2 overs. Labuschagne, who scored his third Test century on Day 1, scored 143 (240) with the help of 18 fours and a six to top-score for Australia.
Having scored 109/5 in 32 overs at Stumps on Day 2, New Zealand are trailing by 307 runs with veteran batsman Ross Taylor (66 not out) and wicket-keeper batsman BJ Watling (0 not out) batting in the middle.
