Ferrari Team Principal Mattia Binotto explains his low expectations ahead of race in Austria
Ferrari Team Principal Mattia Binotto explains his low expectations with his team ahead of the race in Austria which is scheduled a month away.
All the Formula 1 teams are gearing up for the new season with the schedule for the first 8 races have been announced by the authorities. Ferrari being a powerhouse are expected to perform brilliantly.
However, Ferrari team principal Mattia Binottio in an interview with Marca has expressed his own concerns ahead of the race in Austria which is hardly a month away.
“We have not been able to work much due to the long closure of the factories. There has been no opportunity to develop the car or work in data or wind tunnels.
“We have restarted work a few days ago and we are trying to fix those weaknesses, but we are where we were in Australia and it will be a car similar to the one that starts in Austria. developments will come later.”
Speaking about his team’s chances in the first few races, he said, “ I do not expect ( Ferrari) to be the fastest car in Austria. We must achieve the maximum possible points at the start of the tournament and try to react afterwards.”
“Although there are fewer development options with the new regulations that have frozen several parts of the car. we have accepted these changes because of our responsibility to F1.
“It will make it more difficult for us but that doesn’t mean impossible. I think we will know the true potential of the car after three races.” Binotto added.”

The season starting from Austria does give a huge advantage to Ferrari’s rivals Red Bull, as first of all it is their home track and Max Verstappen has been brilliant on it for last two years.
