JR Smith to Lakers: LeBron James related tweet by reporter invites furious response by rumored Lakers recruit

Series of tweets involving JR Smith and John Burnett has emerged, following rumors linking Smith to Lakers and playing again with LeBron James.

With the NBA giving the option to players to withdraw from the Orlando restart, some players have opted to sit it out. The latest player being LA Lakers’ Avery Bradley.

JR Smith, the former Knicks and Cavs guard is being considered as a potential replacement for Bradley by the Lakers. With the lack of free agents available Smith could be the best option for the Lakers.

In the wake JR smith’s name being considered as a potential replacement by the Lakers, he received a snarky response from business reporter John Burnett.

An ESPN video emerged on some of Smith’s best plays. Most of which took place with Denver Nuggets and the New York Knicks. With Burnett trolling him by saying ask LeBron about his passing skills.

Burnett was talking about one of Smith’s plays in the 2018 NBA Finals Game 1 for the Cavs against the Warriors. In which Smith ensnared an offensive rebound in the dying seconds of a tied game in regulation, only to pass it to a hounded George Hill instead of a wide-open LeBron James. JR Smith later explained that he thought the Cavs were in the lead.

Smith didn’t take the dig kindly, taking Burnett for a Donald Trump supporter:

Burnett tried to cool the situation off with Free Agent, but smith was not having any of it :

Smith was trolled in 2018 for having a lack of awareness during the NBA Finals, Game 1. It went down as one of the most memorable memes coming out of the NBA.

With Smith potentially joining hand with LeBron again, could seem to benefit the Lakers. Smith was a pretty decent shooter in his prime. With the lack of shooters around LeBron James and Anthony Davis, he could be a welcome addition.
