West Indies tour of England 2020: Sam Curran down with sickness; self-isolating at Ageas Bowl
Sam Curran down with sickness: The English all-rounder is unlikely to take further part in the ongoing practice match in Southampton.
England all-rounder Sam Curran didn’t take part in the second day of the ongoing practice match between Team Buttler and Team Stokes at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton after falling sick and complaining of diarrhoea.
Curran, 22, was batting on 15* (25) alongside captain Jos Buttler at Stumps on Day 1. It is said that it was the same night that he fell ill and subsequently wasn’t allowed to take part on Day 2.

Curran, who had earlier tested negative for COVID-19 much all other English players, underwent another Test around lunch time yesterday. The reports regarding the same are expected to arrive today.

England Cricket Board has issued a statement on the southpaw saying that he won’t take any further part in the match and that he has been self-isolating from his room at the Ageas Bowl.
“England all-rounder Sam Curran has had sickness and diarrhoea overnight. He is feeling better this afternoon, and has been self-isolating in his room at the Ageas Bowl. He will play no further part in the practice match. He has been monitored by the team doctor throughout and was tested for COVID-19 earlier today,” read ECB’s statement.

Curran, who made his Test debut against Pakistan in 2018, last played a Test during the tour of South Africa earlier this year. In 17 Tests, Curran has picked 37 wickets and scored 711 runs including three half-centuries.
The Surrey player was expected to compete among the likes of James Anderson, Stuart Broad, Chris Woakes, Jofra Archer and Mark Wood for a spot in the Playing XI for the first Test against West Indies starting from July 8.
