De Villiers loses shoe: Legendary South African batsman was involved in a hilarious incident whilst scoring half-century in Solidarity Cup.

During the one-off 3 Team Cricket match for the Solidarity Cup between Kingfishers, Kites and Eagles, Kingfishers captain AB de Villiers scored a game-changing half-century to play a vital role in winning a gold medal for his team.

Coming in to bat at No. 3 in the first half itself, de Villiers didn’t fall into the trap of attacking the bowlers from the word go. On the contrary, the former South African batsman witnessed opening batsman Aiden Markram punish the bowling attack from the non-striker’s end for most part of the first half.

De Villiers, who ended up scoring 61 (24) before being dismissed by Anrich Nortje, was involved in a hilarious incident in the sixth over of the first half.

Facing rookie pacer Thando Ntini, de Villiers’ shoe came off after he got himself into an uncomfortable position to counter Ntini’s pinpoint yorker. Having hit the ball towards the leg-side, de Villiers completed the run before receiving his shoe from the bowler.

Son of former South Africa fast bowler Makhaya Ntini, Thando didn’t let his team down while bowling a crucial last over of the innings especially with his father watching him from inside the stadium.
