NBA Players to kneel during National Anthem during Bubble restart in Orlando

NBA players have decided to kneel during the national anthem during the Bubble restart and it will be interesting to see how NBA fans react.

The ongoing racial movements and protests against police brutality in America have affected the NBA also. The season restart was also questioned by NBA players and fans around the globe. Some players thought that the season restart will distract the movements and protests, others were of the school of thought that they could use the NBA platform to spread the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement.

NBA Players plan to Kneel during the national anthem

Players will extend their support to the ongoing protests in America in different ways, as per the NBA guidelines. Some of them have opted to sport a message on the back of their jersey too.

Now, according to a report, a lot of NBA players have discussed kneeling during the national anthem in order to spread awareness about BLM.

Shams Charania of The Athletic reports that NBA players are discussing Kneeling during the national anthem when the season kickstarts on July 30. He also informed that players might use their own social justice messages which are not approved by the association.

Now, kneeling during the national anthem has caused massive controversy in the NFL in the past, and it could do the same in the NBA.

While players are the commissioner seem to be all for it, there are a host of fans who wouldn’t like the act. However, considering what is going on in the country and how the players feel about it, the NBA should allow them do kneel, if the players feel so.

WNBA Players walked off during national anthem

The WNBA league is also started from July 25 and the players have said that they will dedicate the season to Breonna Taylor and other victims of social injustice.

New York Liberty and Seattle Storm players walked off the court during the national anthem in the season opener on July 25. They also held a brief silence for Breonna Taylor, a 26-year-old woman, who was shot by Louisville police. The police brutality in America against the Black community has been going on for decades and the people are really sick of it now.

This time the NBA players, WNBA players, and the association have extended support to ongoing anti-racism movements and protests against police brutality. The NBA has painted their court with “Black Lives Matter” and allowed players to show their support to the black community by putting social justice messages on the back of their jerseys.
