Dana White reveals why Connor McGregor is still in the UFC rankings

Dana White reveals why MMA superstar Connor McGregor is still in the UFC rankings while the recently retired Henry Cejudo is not.

Connor McGregor announced his retirement from MMA at the conclusion of UFC 250. Henry Cejudo called the curtains on his career at UFC 249. However, while Cejudo was swiftly taken off the UFC rankings, McGregor is still in the UFC rankings.

This has sparked a debate in the MMA community with Gilbert Burns famously pleading for the removal of McGregor from the UFC rankings.

Many have cited this as one more reason to doubt the legitimacy of the Irishman’s retirement.

Dana White reveals why Connor McGregor is still in the UFC rankings

The UFC President was  interviewed by The Schmo after the press conference for the upcoming UFC 252. In the interview he was asked why McGregor was still in the UFC rankings while Cejudo wasn’t despite both being retired for months now.

“That’s a very good point,” White answered. “I don’t know the answer to this, but Cejudo probably dropped out of the USADA testing pool and Conor’s probably still in it.”

This answer raises more questions than it answers. Considering Cejudo has been hinting towards a fight with Alexander Volkanovski, you’d imagine he’d still be a part of the USADA. Besides if McGregor is truly done with the UFC why is he still in the UFC testing pool.

Speculation continues to exist on McGregor’s retirement but White is convinced that the world has seen the last of ‘The Notorious’.

“He is retired,” White told Barstool Sports earlier this month. “Conor McGregor is not fighting. He is retired. I have no plans.”
