“I think I found a home in Portland” – Carmelo Anthony wants to play for Portland Trail Blazers in next NBA Season
Carmelo Anthony News: 10 time NBA all Star hopes to play for Trail Blazers next season, when asked after their defeat against Lakers in Playoff Series.
The future looked bleak for 10-time All-Star Carmelo Anthony at the start of the 2019-20 season. He had just played 10 games with the Rockets last season before they traded him to the Bulls. The Bulls later waived off Anthony, without even playing him.
Carmelo Anthony has led a very decorated career. In his rookie year, he averaged 21ppg, 6.1rpg, and made it to the All-NBA Rookie team. He was in the race for RoTY falling short to LeBron James. Carmelo led his team to playoffs in his rookie season itself.
Anthony played 7 more seasons with the Nuggets and remained the best player on the team for all 8 seasons. He led them to the playoffs in each of his 8 seasons there. Carmelo got selected as an all-star 4 times as a Nugget. He refused to sign an extension contract in 2010 and was traded to the Knicks in 2011. Anthony played 6 seasons with the Knicks and earnt a spot in the All-Star roster in all 6 seasons. He carried the Knicks to playoffs 3 times.
Anthony averaged over 20ppg in the first 14 seasons of his career. This feat has been achieved by 4 other players in the entire NBA. Carmelo is on the #15 spot in all-time points scored, standing just 50 points behind Tim Duncan.

On November 19, 2019, the Portland Trailblazers signed Melo on a 1-year, non-guaranteed deal. Melo’s contract became guaranteed on December 6, 2020.
He has been a vital role player for the Blazers and a major part of them making the playoffs this season. Will Carmelo be retained by the Blazers?
If the current season is to be taken into account, Anthony comes as a much-needed help to their backcourt on the offensive end. Melo also provides excellent defense and can take on the opponent team’s stars, as proven by Melo guarding James in the first round. The chemistry between Carmelo and the rest of the Blazers team is also pretty good, so we see no reason for the Blazers to re-sign Melo.
