“I hated having to deal with Anthony Davis rumors”: Josh Hart expresses his disapproval for being dangled in trade talks for a move away from LeBron James, Lakers
Josh Hart expresses his disdain for having to deal with trade rumours that placed him in a package for Anthony Davis.
The player empowerment movement has taken over the NBA this past decade. Superstars such as Paul George, Kawhi Leonard, and most recently James Harden, have forced their way out of a city when they were still contractually obligated to remain with that team.
Anthony Davis is amongst this list of superstars, as he made it known in the 2018-19 season that he wanted out of New Orleans. His preferred trade destinations were Boston and Los Angeles, with the latter being his number one option.
LeBron James had become quite acquainted with Davis throughout his NBA career, and even signed him to Rich Paul’s agency. This is the same agency that represents LeBron.
The other side of the Anthony Davis deal was the youngsters the Lakers had to give up in order to sign him.
Josh Hart and Brandon Ingram hated the Anthony Davis trade rumors
The NBA trade rumour mill is relentless in churning out new trade scenarios for players that want out. During this Anthony Davis trade saga, a majority of NBA fans, including Lakers fans were very open about wanting to send the Lakers’ newest draftees away.
Josh Hart addressed getting berated by fans constantly, in a piece for Zach Lowe on Brandon Ingram. Hart said, “The Anthony Davis trade rumours were tough on Ingram. Before Lebron had gotten there, he had been given the keys.”
He continued on with, “People in L.A. were killing, saying he wasn’t good anymore, he’s not a good no. 2 pick. The rumors became a part of our lives. Thank God I don’t have to deal with that sh-t anymore.”

Being in constant trade rumors can be hard on any player; especially when it is younger players who need to focus on development and not, being traded elsewhere. It worked out in the end for Brandon Ingram as it seems he has found a home in New Orleans.
