‘Let LeBron James know why I missed his call’- Jacob Blake Sr. on miscommunication with Lakers star
Jacob Blake’s father missed a phone call from LeBron James due to being on a flight. He reached out to him later through ESPN’s Dave McMenamin.
The NBA boycotted its playoff games for a 3-day span earlier this week. This they did in the wake of policemen shooting at unarmed Jacob Blake for not following their instructions. Blake suffered 7 bullet injuries in his back and barely managed to survive the impact of the shooting.

The Milwaukee Bucks kicked off the boycott by sitting out of their Game 5 initially scheduled on August 26th against the Orlando Magic. While in their locker room, they attempted to get Wisconsin’s attorney-general on the phone.
Jacob Blake’s father chokes up as he describes seeing his son in the hospital, saying he was “shackled to the bed.”

Following that incident, all players sat down together and tried to resolve whether or not they wanted to resume play. During this crucial time, LeBron James attempted to contact the victim’s dad in an effort to gain perspective.
Unfortunately, Blake Sr. missed what could have been an unforgettable call from The King himself. Nonetheless, Blake Sr. made sure to let James know he didn’t intend to miss the call, as he reportedly was on a flight when that happened.
“Please let LeBron know I did not mean to miss his phone call, I wasn’t putting him on hold,” Blake Sr. said, via Dave McMenamin of ESPN. “They made me turn my phone off on the plane.”
Given the importance of not forgetting about this incident in the Black Lives Matter movement, you can expect that LeBron will talk to Jacob Blake senior at some point.
