Netflix to accompany Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton at Sochi with Michael Schumacher’s record set to be equalized
Netflix is set to accompany Lewis Hamilton during the Russian Grand Prix as the Mercedes driver on the verge of equalizing a glorious record.
With Netflix set to release the third season of Drive to survive, it has been reported that the production team of the show will be accompanying Lewis Hamilton in the Russian Grand Prix.
Hamilton’s win in last week’s Tuscan Grand Prix was the 90th of his career, leaving him one shy of the all-time record of 91, set by Michael Schumacher in 2006.
As was the case in 2019, the Netflix team is only joining Mercedes for a single round of the championship. Last year the presence of their crew coincided with Mercedes’ worst race of the season by far.
Hamilton and team mate Valtteri Bottas both crashed during the German Grand Prix at the Hockenheimring, where the team was marking its 125th anniversary. Bottas failed to finish and Hamilton came in a distant ninth.
Mercedes’ impeccebale record at Sochi
Mercedes has been phenomenal at Sochi since the time it was added in the Formula 1 calendar in 2014, Mercedes hasn’t been defeated even once.
Four of those six wins were taken by Hamilton, plus one apiece for Bottas and Nico Rosberg.
Netflix to offer more drama
The video streaming platform gave a new popularity to Formula 1 by providing the inside picture of th sport. It also displays how intense things can go.
Moreover, the aderaline and backstory to all the Grand Prix events made it even more enticing for the fans. Now, with the pandemic hitting the games across the globe, covering F1 would give even more context.
