Marc Gasol has joined the Los Angeles Lakers this offseason to team up with LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

It was thought that this 2020 offseason would be a dud compared to last year’s offseason. However, with teams like the Blazers, Bucks, Clippers, Lakers, etc. deciding to bolster their roster by a considerable margin, it has been an action-packed week.

The Lakers have been at the forefront of the 2020 offseason. With moves that brought the NBA’s best bench guys, Montrezl Harrell and Dennis Schroder, to La La Land, the Lakers are arguably an even better team than last year’s championship roster.

The Lakers did however lose JaVale McGee by trading him away to the Cleveland Cavaliers. They made up for this loss by bringing in the starting 5 of the 2019 NBA champions.

Marc Gasol was initially determined to move home to Barcelona to stay close to his wife and children. It seems like Gasol scrapped that idea once the Lakers were on the other side of the phone call.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports that Marc Gasol will be signing with the Los Angeles Lakers for the 2020-21 NBA season. This will be a 2 year deal.

The 35 year old is following in his older brother’s footsteps by joining the Lakers. Pau Gasol was traded from the Grizzlies to the Lakers in 2007 and ended up winning 2 chips alongside Kobe Bryant.

Marc Gasol was initially drafted by the Lakeshow but had his rights traded to Memphis in the deal that sent Pau to the Lakers.

How did Marc Gasol perform this past season?

Gasol averaged 7.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 3.3 assists in the Raptor’s 2019-20 campaign. It will be interesting to see how Frank Vogel incorporates Gasol’s playmaking into his offensive scheme.

Though the Raps lost out on Marc, they immediately signed ‘the Pain Train’, Aron Baynes to a 2 year deal.
