Moises Henriques cricket: Why is Marcus Stoinis not playing today’s AUS vs IND second ODI in Sydney?
Marcus Stoinis not playing: The injured Australian all-rounder has been rested for the second of the three-match ODI series.
During the second ODI of the ongoing India’s tour of Australia in Sydney, Australia captain Aaron Finch has won the toss and chose to bat for the second consecutive time in the series.
Coming on the back of a 66-run victory in the first match, Finch and his men would now be looking to register another victory to secure a 2-0 unassailable lead in the three-match series.

India, on the other hand, will take the field in a must-win match. Speaking during the toss, India captain Virat Kohli revealed that they haven’t made any change to their Playing XI for this match.
“A bit rusty in the first half. But we did see that after the 30-over mark the bodies started to slip because we haven’t played in a while. I think the second half was very encouraging, we kept going despite losing four wickets.
“You don’t want your bowlers to not have time to think, especially at the death, last 10 overs. [We need] Intensity in the field, having the right fielders in the right places,” Kohli was quoted as saying during the toss.

Meanwhile, Australia have made a solitary change to their Playing XI by bringing in seasoned all-rounder Moises Henriques for injured all-rounder Marcus Stoinis.
“There’s a little niggle in his side [Marcus Stoinis]. Don’t want to push him too early. Moises Henriques replaces him. [Cameron Green] was in consideration, but it’s about the number of overs Moises can give us. The pitch got better as it went on in the last game,” Finch was quoted as saying during the toss.
Henriques, 31, who made his ODI debut against India in 2009, had last played the last of his 11 ODIs in 2017 against England. It is worth mentioning that Henriques had led Sydney Sixers to a title victory in the last season of Big Bash League.
