Colby Covington Vs. Jorge Masvidal: Colby Covington once again expresses disdain for Jorge Masvidal
After expressing disdain for Jorge Masvidal on Submission Radio, a couple of days later Colby Covington has now appeared on Chael Sonnen’s show and seemingly did the same.
Former UFC fighter Chael Sonnen, who is now apparently a full-time MMA analyst runs a popular YouTube channel as well. He is also a longtime acquaintance of Covington and thus in a recent video showcased a recorded talking conversation with Colby. On the call, he discussed the ad nauseam with Covington, which is why he and Masvidal haven’t been booked to fight yet despite all the recent build-up and hype around the fight.
Colby, who is a firm believer that Gamebred is ducking him, implied that it is indeed the case since he and UFC are onboard and the only resistance is coming from Jorge’s side.
“The last time I spoke with the UFC, Dana said they were gonna make it happen. I’ve been on it since day 1, Chael.
“Since I fought Tyron Woodley, ended his career, and left him out on a stretcher. I agreed to fight Masvidal in September. It’s clear who doesn’t wanna fight me.
“He doesn’t wanna fight me. He’s experienced this before. This is the easiest paycheck of my life. This is free money,” said Covington. “He’s not even as good as Tyron. Tyron Woodley was an actual world champion, not a BMF.”
Covington then added that Masvidal is doing everything he can to avoid him.
“If street Judas Masvidal was such a BMF, he wouldn’t be running; he wouldn’t be dodging fights. The only reason it’s getting held up is because of street Judas Masvidal.”
Colby Covington Vs. Jorge Masvidal: Need To Happen in 2021
With 2021 approaching the match-up apparently is in the works, since contacts have been made. However, there are speculations that the two will feature as coaches in the upcoming edition of The Ultimate Fighter. Either way, there are chances that in 2021 the two former best friends will share the ring space.
With Covington at the summit of the Welterweight rankings, the title shot is also looming for him. So, this match could have an impact on title contentions as well, since Masvidal, who is fresh off a title shot fancies a rematch, and what else could set the path straight for that, if not a victory over the No.1 ranked fighter of the weight class.
