'LeBron James is a spineless coward': Colby Covington calls out woke Lakers star after UFC win

Dedicating his win to the US Military, Colby Covington went a step further in his post-match presser. He called LeBron James and ‘woke athletes’ spineless cowards.

Covington won his welterweight fight with former champion Tyler Woodley in Round 5 today. The mode of victory was a technical knockout late in the fifth round, with only 1:19 to go.

It was a hard-fought victory for the American, who has improved his UFC record to 16-2-0. Covington had some bad blood going on with former training partner Woodley, who treated him as a subordinate in 2014 according to the former.

Covington disses LeBron James in post-match presser

The UFC welterweight fighter dedicated his win today to first responders, the military and ‘all those who keep us safe’. He lashed out at ‘woke athletes’, naming LeBron James as one of them.

This attack is not the first time Covington has lashed out at NBA players. On August 27, following the NBA’s temporary suspension following the Bucks’ protest against the Jacob Blake shootings in Kenosha, he called them ‘players of a kids’ game’.

He wanted them to take paycuts and do the ‘toughest job on American soil’ – being a cop.

At the time, division champion Kamaru Usman responded with some scathing words: ‘I wish someone would break your jaw already’. Covington’s clearly conservative beliefs lead him to denounce the liberal NBA all the more.
