‘I’ve never seen anything like this. They are at home?’: Lakers legend Magic Johnson slams Clippers for 51 point loss without Kawhi Leonard vs Mavericks

Magic Johnson is as shocked as anyone else after watching the Clippers implode in the most spectacular fashion against the Mavs today.

Clippers fans will be hoping that they won’t be judged off the worst loss in franchise history. This 51-point loss on Sunday edged out a 50-point loss at the hands of the Seattle SuperSonics in December 1988. The Clippers were in a 40+ point deficit for over 31 minutes today.

They didn’t make it past the 5 point mark till the 8th minute of the first quarter, such was the woeful state of their affairs. The Clippers only had 3 players scoring in double digits. Paul George went 4-of-13 for 15 points, while Serge Ibaka was their only economical scorer going 6-of-11 for 13 points.

The Clippers are already being trolled at levels comparable to September after their playoff exit. This loss essentially puts paid to any hopes they had of being considered true contenders.

Usually, after a loss of such a magnitude, there are shakedowns in every locker room. Few people on the planet will be as livid as Ty Lue today. If Magic is somebody who can criticize the Clippers while sympathizing with them, you know they’ve really gone off track.

No team that ever lost a game by 40 points or more has ever been successful in the postseason. So this clearly doesn’t augur well for the Clippers, who were looking to upstage LeBron James and co from their throne.
