Porsche may very well return to Formula One
The German automaker Porsche showed its interest to be in F1 from 2021. The financial chief of Porsche – Lutz Meschke recently met the F1 director Ross Brawn during Porsche’s Italian Grand Prix visit.
The representatives from Porsche had already attended a meeting which was mainly focused on 2021 F1 engine regulations. After the meeting, it was clear that FIA plans to cut the cost of the engine from 2021.
According to the financial chief, Porsche team will be there as engine manufacturer for 2021, if the engine regulations has cheaper and less technology.
Porsche has a very brief history in F1. Porsche received their one and only one constructor award at 1962 French Grand Prix.

Then Porsche came out of the F1 program and concentrated their program development on 24 hours LeMans racing series.
Till now, Porsche is considered as the most successful team in long distance endurance races.
The Porsche team had already announced that they are retiring from their LMP1 program.
As Porsche is pulling out of LeMans Racing, they are open to enter in F1. Interestingly, Porsche has also announced its participation in Formula E series for 2019-2020 season.
Porsche in F1 means a lot for the Formula One. If the heritage team makes a comeback to F1, then it would attract many other engine manufacturers to get indulged in Formula One.
