“LeBron James is an early-season 4th quarter disaster”: Skip Bayless gleefully celebrates Lakers’ loss to Warriors on MLK Day after blowing 19-point lead
LeBron James had an outing on MLK Day that gave Skip Bayless the perfect recipe to roast him on Undisputed this Tuesday morning.
The Lakers shot to a 19-point lead with a few minutes remaining in the first quarter. On one end, the Warriors just couldn’t manufacture good looks for their offense. On the other, the Lakers piled up score after score – especially through Dennis Schroder, who was lethal in the first.
Once Schroder cooled down, however, it became apparent that the Lakers weren’t in the best offensive rhythm on the night. The Warriors got themselves back to within arm’s length by the end of the half. But even so, the Lakers were clearly in the driving seat midway through the 3rd.
James Wiseman and Draymond Green both had 5 fouls by the middle of the 3rd quarter. This could have been curtains for the Warriors’ chances on the night, but the Lakers failed to attack their big men and enhance their chances of fouling out.
Skip Bayless puts the blame for Lakers’ loss on LeBron James
LeBron James and Anthony Davis together had forgettable nights. Both of them shot just 6-of-16 apiece from the field. AD finished with 17 points, while LeBron had 19 on the night. The Lakers as a unit had 0 assists and 4 turnovers in the 4th. This is in sharp contrast to the Warriors, who had 10 assists and 0 turnovers.
Skip did not waste this heaven-sent opportunity to have a go at LeBron. Addressing Shannon directly, he said:
“Your man LeBron James has become an early season 4th quarter disaster and I don’t know why, because he has never been this bad. Your team still does not have a closer.”
“Through 15 games, LeBron James is shooting 36% from the floor for 4th quarters. He’s shooting 26% from 3. To his credit, he’s shooting 71% from the line – right in line with his career averages. But he just isn’t good enough as a closer for the Lakers this season.”
