Colin Munro: The batsman from Perth Scorchers played yet another impact-generating innings in Big Bash League 2020-21.

During the 50th match of the ongoing 10th season of the Big Bash League between Melbourne Stars and Perth Scorchers in Melbourne, Perth Scorchers batsman Colin Munro continued to play highly innovative shots this season to enthrall fans.

Coming in to bat at No. 3 in the 10th over, Munro dominated in the second half of Scorchers’ innings to power them to 182/4 in 20 overs after Stars captain Glenn Maxwell won the toss and opted to field.

Having scored 46* (30) with the help of four fours and two sixes, Munro did the exact of what Perth required one of their senior batsmen to do at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. With the likes of Josh Inglis (26) and Mitchell Marsh (5) getting dismissed in quick succession, it was imperative for Munro to play an impact-generating innings.

The highlight of Munro’s knock came in the 14th over when he played an unbelievable switch-hit off Stars spinner Zahir Khan. With former Australia fast bowler Brett Lee speaking against doing anything silly on commentary, Munro nailing a switch-hit was an ideal way to contradict Lee.

Apart from Munro, it was Scorchers opening batsman Jason Roy who top-scored with his 54 (32) comprising of seven fours and a six. With bowling figures of 2-0-16-1, Stars all-rounder Marcus Stoinis was the pick of their bowlers.
