‘Need to put it together on both sides of the ball’: Kevin Durant lays down challenge for Kyrie Irving and James Harden after loss to Wizards

Kevin Durant talks about what led to the Brooklyn Nets blowing a substantial lead to Bradley Beal and the Washington Wizards.

The Brooklyn Nets have suffered yet another loss in the James Harden era of their team, and Harden wasn’t even playing last night. The Nets fell to the Washington Wizards yet again this season as they let the Wizards score 9 points in the last 12 seconds of the game.

The main takeaway for the Nets from this game should be that they need to switch up their defensive schemes and/or acquire new defensive personnel as soon as possible. They boast the worst defensive rating in the league since they made the Harden trade.

Their attitude on defense was quite lackadaisical last night but Kevin Durant doesn’t seem all too worried about them.

Kevin Durant remains positive in regards to the Nets’ ability to pull it together on defense.

Kyrie Irving came out and criticized himself for his lack of effort on the defensive end of the floor against Russell Westbrook and company. He hilariously claimed that at this moment he couldn’t “guard a stick”.

Kevin Durant on the other hand had a much lighter perception of the Nets’ current situation. He said, “I got faith in our team and our guys and you know we are going to start to put it together on both ends of the ball.” He also gave Washington their props, calling their play-style, “desperate”.

This isn’t the first game the Brooklyn Nets have had where they simply could not contain the other team’s offense. In fact, they have had only one game in the Harden era where they have kept the opponent team below 100 points. This was against the Miami Heat about a week ago. However, the Heat were missing several starters.

Brooklyn have added center Norvell Pelle and veteran forward Iman Shumpert so hopefully those two can band together to help get some stops when need be.
