Edge reportedly pitched plans to win WWE Royal Rumble 2021. The Rated R Superstar became only the third person to win the Rumble from the 1^st position.

Only two men had previously won the Royal Rumble after coming out from the number one position. Returning Hall of Famer Edge joined the illustrious list on Sunday. The Rated R Superstar was the first to enter the Royal Rumble and managed to last longer than all the other 29 participants.

He now has to make the choice between the world champions in all of WWE. RAW, SmackDown and NXT, he can have his pick. It’s hunting season, and Edge is already scouting all his possible opponents on his road to Wrestlemania.

Edge is a part of the WWE Creative team and has significant creative influence on storylines featured on their shows. According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer, Edge himself suggested that he win the Royal Rumble on his first match since returning from an injury.

Meltzer added that the original plan was for an ‘I Quit’ match between Edge and Randy Orton at Wrestlemania. However, the plans were scrapped and their feud was settled with a match on Monday Night RAW earlier this week instead.

Orton will now continue to fend off Bray Wyatt and Alexa Bliss while Edge resumes his championship pursuit. Edge’s last championship in the WWE was the world heavyweight championship while on SmackDown. That title is now defunct. Interestingly, SmackDown is currently in the possession of the Universal Championship; the title that eventually replaced the World Heavyweight Championship.

Edge was earlier on RAW and told McIntyre to watch his back before announcing his intentions to make the trip to NXT. Charlotte’s fight and eventual win over Rhea Ripley last year has already set the precedent of a Rumble winner choosing to fight for the NXT title instead.

It is unclear, who he will choose. It has been suggested however, that Edge may go after tribal chief Roman Reigns in a spear vs spear showdown at the show of shows. We don’t know that for certain though and the only thing we can do is to wait and watch.
