Is Russell Westbrook playing tonight vs Chicago Bulls? Wizards release injury update on MVP ahead of game against Zach Lavine and co
The Washington Wizards have released an injury update on Russell Westbrook ahead of their game against the Chicago Bulls.
The Washington Wizards have been at the bottom of the barrel this season in terms of record in the standings. They are currently 5-15 to start their season off and are only 3 games ahead of the worst team in the league, the Detroit Pistons.
This is in large part due to the fact they hold the unfortunate honor of boasting the 29th ranked defense in the league. Every team in the league has been able to get theirs when going up against Bradley Beal’s squad.
Another factor to the Wizards’ misfortunes has been the abundance on injuries their players have endured. Their starting center Thomas Bryant had been diagnosed with a partially torn ACL in a game against the Miami Heat earlier this season.
Russell Westbrook has been playing through a left quad injury and the Wizards have released on update regarding his status going into tonight.
Will Russell Westbrook suit up for the Wizards tonight?
Russell Westbrook has yet to play both games on a back-to-back this season. This is due to the 2017 MVP battling through a left quad injury that requires some healing time. Head coach Scott Brooks said that Westbrook may be available for their bout against Zach Lavine and the Bulls tonight.
Westbrook dropped 12 points and grabbed 11 boards during the Wizards’ blowout loss to the Charlotte Hornets last night. Russ’s availability depends on how he feels prior to the game. If he feels as though he needs more time to recuperate, he’ll most likely sit out the game.
On the flip side, he put an end to this trend of sitting out at least one game of a back-to-back and suit up tonight.
Westbrook has said that if this injury happened to him when he was younger, he would’ve been relentless in trying to get back on the court. However, now that he’s older, he needs to take more days to rest up to feel better both physically and mentally.
