“Draymond Green is right, there’s definitely a double standard”: Dwyane Wade backs Warriors star for his comments on the Andre Drummond trade situation

Dwyane Wade backed Draymond Green to the hilt for his comments regarding Andre Drummond in yesterday’s post-game presser.

Blake Griffin and Andre Drummond were placed on the trading block by their organizations 2 days ago. So far, there hasn’t been any real murmur of discontent from either of these players.

But players around the league are taking notes on what Draymond Green said regarding their trade status. The Warriors star cited the examples of James Harden and Anthony Davis while speaking about this hoopla yesterday:

“To watch Andre Drummond, before the game, sit on the sidelines, then go to the back, and to come out in street clothes because a team is going to trade him, it’s bulls***.”

Dwyane Wade agrees with comments made by Draymond Green

As part of the Tuesday night TNT crew, D-Wade was back in the studios last night. He spoke out about this rant by citing his own experiences and those of teammates:

“I definitely agree that it’s a double standard when it comes to ownership or organizations and players,” Wade said. “I know a lot of people out there are [like], ‘Oh you guys are getting paid a lot of money, it doesn’t matter.’ But it does, because a lot of players in our league have families.”

“Some players are told sometimes, ‘Hey, you’re not getting traded.’ Then they get traded. Some players have to find out by the media. I’ve heard stories of players finding out been at a gas station, somebody walked up to them and said, ‘Hey man, you just got traded to such and such.’”

A number of people are misreading Draymond’s comments as some justification for players acting unprofessionally. In essence, Green is actually advocating for the opposite – for teams to live up to the same standards of professionalism as players.

Green did not ask fans to not flame stars in situations like James Harden put himself in. He’s demanding that GMs and executives like Masai Ujiri be held accountable for false promises made to their own players.
