“Mike Conley you’re too small”: LaMelo Ball trash talks the Jazz star, saying he cannot guard him the Hornets rookie on his way to the rim
LaMelo Ball takes Mike Conley to the cup and following the made basket, gestures that Conley is much too small to guard him.
As LaMelo Ball continues to flourish in his newfound starting role, it is still odd that it took Hornets head coach James Borrego nearly 2 months to place him in the starting lineup.
Borrego did come out to say that he wanted Ball to essentially earn his minutes and his high turnover rate was the reason for him coming off the bench.
Nonetheless, LaMelo Ball has shown that he’s more than capable of handling a larger workload. He’s averaged 22.6 points and 6.6 assists while shooting 51% from beyond the arc in 5 games as a starter.
Another component to LaMelo Ball’s success as a rookie in this league has been his exuberance and overwhelming confidence when stepping foot on the court.
LaMelo Ball says that Mike Conley is too small to guard him
LaMelo Ball has been talking trash to his opponents on the court ever since he was a freshman at Chino Hills. He’s never been afraid to let his opponents on the court know that he’s most probably better than them.
So when the opportunity struck in a game against the Utah Jazz, Ball took it. He drove to the rim from the right wing and bullied 6’0 Mike Conley to get to the rack. After the made bucket, LaMelo gestured that Conley was too small to guard him.
This gesture has become quite popular this season as a multitude of stars have done it such as Zach LaVine and Jaylen Brown.

This all comes back to the fact that LaMelo is very confident in his abilities to be a star point guard in the NBA. Many have asserted that this was the problem with his elder brother Lonzo Ball, especially when he came to New Orleans. Lonzo has started to find his footing, however, as he’s been knocking down 3s at a great clip this month.
