Wahab Riaz six: The captain of Peshawar Zalmi hit two massive sixes off the veteran South African pacer to seal a formidable chase.

During the eighth match of the ongoing sixth season of the Pakistan Super League between Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators in Karachi, Peshawar Zalmi captain Wahab Riaz put on display his batting skills to seal a formidable chase.

Needing 19 runs from to win off eight deliveries to seal a 199-run chase, Riaz hit a gargantuan six off long-on off veteran Quetta Gladiators pacer Dale Steyn to bring down the equation to 13 off 8.

In no mood to take the match to the last over, Riaz belted the following delivery over deep square leg for his second six to bring down the runs required to single figures.

Having scored 20 (8) with the help of a four and two sixes, Riaz contributed when it mattered the most in a match-winning 48-run partnership alongside all-rounder Sherfane Rutherford (36*). Steyn, who conceded 21 runs in his last over, returned with bowling figures of 4-0-44-2.

Despite a mediocre start, Zalmi won the cliffhanger match on the back of vital contributions from Haider Ali (50), Imam-ul-Haq (41) and Shoaib Malik (34).

Earlier, it was Riaz who won the toss and invited Gladiators to bat first. It was a 105-run partnership for the fourth wicket between Islamabad captain Sarfaraz Ahmed (81) and Azam Khan (47) that propelled their team to 198/7 in 20 overs.
