“Stop giving out 10s!”: Dwyane Wade passes advice to Slam Dunk Contest judges while referencing Aaron Gordon’s snub from the 2020 edition
Former Slam Dunk Contest judge Dwyane Wade is unrepentant as he dishes out advice for his successors ahead of the All-Star Weekend.
The NBA season is approaching its mid=way point soon, and along with it comes the All-Star break. This time, due to the COVID restrictions, the All-Star Weekend has been packed all into a single-day event.

The list of the participants is out, and we only have 3 participants for the Dunk Contest this year. We have Anfernee Simons from the Portland Trailblazers, Cassius Stanley of the Indiana Pacers, and Obi Toppin of the New York Knicks.
Dwayne Wade pours some advice for the Dunk Contest judges
With the players’ lineup for the Dunk Contest out, the judges’ lineup followed soon too. This time the judges would be five former Dunk contest champions: Dominique Wilkins, Jason Richardson, Josh Smith, Spud Webb, and Dee Brown.
Dwyane Wade was relieved of his former duties as a Slam Dunk contest judge, and he seemed to take it well. He was asked to give advice to the new judges. To that, Wade said,
“Judge how you want to. Win or lose, everybody gets a trophy. Everybody someone dunks, people are like it’s a 10, it’s not a 10! Stop giving out 10s!”

Shaq chipped in by saying you can’t give a 10 on a missed attempt.
However, Wade’s statement brings back some flashbacks of the last dunk contest. There, in the final round between Aaron Gordon and Derrick Jones Jr., Wade gave his former Miami teammate a 10, while giving Gordon a 9 and essentially looting him of the champion title. The NBA Twitter remembers the incident and did not react kindly to the situation.
The All-Star Weekend festivities are on Sunday, 7th March.
