“Kevin Durant, wasn’t this your moment to lead a championship team?”: Shannon Sharpe rips apart Nets superstar for recruiting Blake Griffin to their stacked team
Shannon Sharpe calls out Kevin Durant for being a hypocrite. as he successfully recruits Blake Griffin and assembles a superteam in Brooklyn.
The Brooklyn Nets are probably the favorites to win the championship this season. Even before the All-Star break, they were the leading contenders. During the break, they managed to sign Blake Griffin, and further bolster their chances.
Brooklyn’s roster now has big names like Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, James Harden, DeAndre Jordan, and now Blake Griffin. Along with all of that, they also have former 3 point contest champion, Joe Harris.
If one has to point out one part where the Nets lack, it’s the rim protection. However, they can counter any part they lack with the scoring they can provide. They currently boast the 2nd best record in the East, sitting half a game behind the top-seeded Sixers.
Shannon Sharpe takes a dig at Kevin Durant, calls him a hypocrite
In the latest episode of The Undefeated, Sharpe starts by saying that he thought this was the year KD led a team to the championship. He says the rings with the Warriors came as Steph’s team, and this was his chance to earn a ring with his own team.
Sharpe says it was supposed to be KD and Kyrie against the league, but then they suddenly add James Harden. They added Blake Griffin now, and are in the race to add Andre Drummond as well. Shannon uses this chance to bring up a 2010 KD tweet, where he speaks against the superteams forming in Miami and LA. The tweet in reference is:
Now everybody wanna play for the heat and the Lakers? Let’s go back to being competitive and going at these peoples!
— Kevin Durant (@KDTrey5) July 16, 2010
Shannon said everybody, including his co-host Skip Bayless goes wild whenever LeBron wants good players, but no one said anything when KD does the same.
Well damn. I thought this was KD’s moment to lead a team to a championship. I ain’t heard nobody mention that KD want all the good players. pic.twitter.com/navFV6EKkD

With a stacked Brooklyn team, and KD about to make his return to the court soon, the Nets sure are the frontrunners in the championship race. It should be a fun second half of the season coming up.
