“Kyrie Irving has to be on the MVP list!”: Stephen A. Smith controversially picks the Nets guard over Nikola Jokic as an MVP candidate
ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith does a complete 180 on Kyrie Irving, believes the Nets star should be a top candidate in the MVP race this season.
Kyrie Irving is one of the most sensational players of our time. He is one of the most entertaining players to watch. Irving’s ball-handling skills are second to none in the league, and he puts on a show for his fans every time he’s on the court.
This season Kyrie has been averaging 27.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 5.9 assists per contest. Kyrie Irving sits 8th on the list of points averaged per game, and has been putting up wonderful stats.
However, he is not really considered in the running for the MVP candidate, and there could be several reasons behind it.
Stephen A. Smith believes Kyrie Irving deserves some MVP consideration
Kyrie Irving is currently the top player on the team that is considered the favorite to win the ring. Kyrie is managing to put up wonderful numbers, despite the fact that his team also stars like James Harden and Kevin Durant.
Stephen A. Smith sees the same and believes Irving deserves recognition for the same. In the latest episode of First Take, Smith talks about putting Irving as a candidate in the MVP race.
He believes that Kyrie is the biggest show in the NBA, and attracts a lot of fans every day. Smith also believes Irving should be ahead of Damian Lillard, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Nikola Jokic.

Kyrie Irving is surely an MVP-caliber player, but as we’ve seen in the past, having multiple superstars on the team usually leads to the votes being distributed within the team itself. However, it is clear that he is one of the top players in the league, and he will have his moment soon.
