“I guarantee I will be an All-NBA player when I return”: Klay Thompson opens up about his rehab and his plans on returning to Steph Curry and the Warriors
Klay Thompson remains confident in his ability to return to All-NBA form when he makes his comeback to the NBA next season.
Warriors star Klay Thompson hasn’t dealt the long end of the stick in quite some time now. After completing his rehabilitation process for a torn ACL, which he suffered in the 2019 Finals, the 3x champ was hit with yet another unfortunate injury last year. During an offseason workout, Klay tore his Achilles tendon, which kept him out of play for this 2020-21 NBA season.
Thought to have been title contenders with Klay Thompson, the Golden State Warriors are now left fighting for a play-in spot with Steph Curry and Draymond Green at the helm.
It would make sense that Steve Kerr would allow him to ease his way back into this role after having missed 2 years of professional play. After having missed two full seasons, the sharpshooting guard is hopeful of having an uber-successful comeback season next year.
The 2x All-NBA 3rd team select is perhaps the most prolific off-ball, catch-and-shoot player in the history of the NBA.
Klay Thompson reveals his plans for making a comeback and how 2020 affected his life
A great sight to see, Klay Thompson seems to be in high spirits when taking to the Warriors’ postgame presser to answer questions on his rehab process and more.
“I’ll be honest, I don’t expect to come back balls to the wall, 38 minutes a night, guarding the best player, running around 100 screens. I’m going to get to that point, I guarantee that. I plan on being the All-NBA player I was. I can’t wait man, I got a lot of pent up energy”
Klay Thompson with a candid quote on next season: “I’ll be honest, I don’t expect to come back balls to the wall, 38 minutes a night, guarding the best player, running around 100 screens. I’m going to get to that point. I guarantee that.”

Klay described his play to perfection in his quote as his game revolves around a multitude of screens, both on and off-ball to get an open look for 3, while also being the Warriors’ best perimeter defender.
Thompson also lamented on the fact that 2020 was, “the worst year of my life,” in regards to the pandemic, the untimely deaths of Kobe Bryant and Gigi, and also having to rehab while coping with the loss of his grandmother.
Klay Thompson will provide an almighty boost to the Warriors whenever Kerr and co are able to ease him back.
