“After Dwight Howard, I’m probably the tallest guy on this team”: Doc Rivers jokes about former Lakers center’s ejection during Sixers’ win at Staples Center
Doc Rivers cracked a joke at halftime about the 76ers’ big man situation after Dwight Howard got ejected against the Lakers last night.
The Philadelphia 76ers have been very impressive this season. But, after the injury to Joel Embiid, the franchise has been in a bit of a crisis. Their severe lack of big men pushed Dwight Howard into the starting lineup and Doc Rivers into a bit of a problem.
For the most part, the franchise had handled the situation well. But, in their recent game against the LA Lakers, Dwight Howard was ejected, bringing back the problem of depth at the position.
When asked about what his plans were to counter the problem, Doc Rivers gave a response that still has fans chuckling.

“I think our next biggest guy is me”: Doc Rivers jokes about checking into the game as the team’s center
As previously mentioned, Dwight Howard was ejected early in the game. Because of this, Doc Rivers was in quite the fix during the match. Speaking to Reggie Miller during the game, the head coach was asked about their big man situation. Smirking a tiny bit, this is what Rivers had to say.
“Yeah, Mike has 2 fouls. I think our next biggest guy is me so, we’ll see.”

Unfortunately, even if Doc Rivers were to be able to check into the game, at 6’4” he wouldn’t be able to play at the five. Though we have to admit watching the man suit up and check-in would be entertaining, to say the least.
In the end, the Philadelphia 76ers did end up winning against a wounded LA Lakers. But, this is a problem that the franchise needs to address, or else their seeding in the East could change drastically.
