“Michael Jordan reminds me all the time that he’s got 6 championships”: Yankees legend Derek Jeter reveals how the GOAT trolls him for having only 5 titles
Derek Jeter is one of the GOATs of baseball. But Michael Jordan is one-up in terms of championships, and he’s not shy to let the Yankees legend know.
Inter-sport banter is something that fans and players have always enjoyed. We’ve always known that it’s really pointless to compare players from different sports.
But these are still the kind of hypotheticals that allow us to wax eloquent about our heroes. These are also the types of conversations to serve as icebreakers for fans of different sports.
Maybe the best part of Michael Jordan getting emotional seeing Derek Jeter on Derek Jeter Day is the first thing Jeter says when he sees him.
“You’re walking kinda slow” 🤣
That’s championship level trash talk. pic.twitter.com/lqwgeJJ0k2

Many of us treasure moments like the time when Peyton Manning roasted Kevin Durant at the ESPYs. The look on KD’s face at the time was priceless, and is something that will always be part of internet lore.
Michael Jordan stills trash talks Derek Jeter over his championship count
Jeter was drafted by the New York Yankees in 1992 as a 17-year-old straight out of high school. He made his debut in the pros 3 years later, and continued to serve the vaunted franchise for 20 straight years.
Jeter’s career has tons of parallels with Kobe Bryant. Both played 20 years for the same team, never donning another franchise’s colors. Both won 5 championships, and both are considered GOATs of their eras.
Even he knows, however, that there’s a gulf between that tier of legends and Michael Jordan. He admitted that in a 2012 interview with Complex.com:
Reilly: OK, you have five world championship rings. How much do you think about Michael Jordan having six?
Jeter: Think about it? Of course I think about it. He reminds me all the time.
Reilly: He texts you and reminds you?
Jeter: All the time.
