“Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan never shot it like this”: Steve Kerr gives Steph Curry highest degree of praise, explains why his 30-point game streak is more impressive
Steve Kerr says that Steph Curry is currently playing at a level that he hasn’t seen even Kobe Bryant or Michael Jordan sustaining.
Steph Curry is currently on a 11-game streak where he’s scored 30 or more points. Every one of these games has come after he sat with a tailbone injury, back at the end of March.
Steve Kerr bore witness to Steph’s latest heroics from the touchline, which culminated in him getting MVP chants from Philly’s finest. It was one hell of a bounceback performance by Steph after a poor start to the game. This is what Kerr said in post-game comments:
“Whatever I said last game, just use that. It’s the same thing after every game. It’s just utter amazement at this guy’s skill level, heart, mind, focus. It’s just amazing to watch.”
“I’ve seen Kobe Bryant, early in his career had a stretch where he went nuts,” Kerr said. “And obviously Michael Jordan had some stretches where he just scored like crazy.”

“But, obviously, nobody’s ever shot the ball like this in the history of the game. And even by Steph’s own lofty standards, this is above and beyond.”
Comparing the best streaks by Steph Curry, James Harden, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan
Steph is currently on the longest 30-point game streak of his career. He’s on a 11-game streak that’s still alive and the record for any player 32+ years of age.
However, if we compare the entire careers of players, we begin to see a different picture of the record book. Michael Jordan had an 11-game streak in the 1986-87 season. Kevin Durant had a 12-game streak in his own MVP year.
Kobe’s longest streak of 30-point games lasted 16 games and came in 2002-03. This was also the first season that the Black Mamba averaged 40 points per game through a calendar month. Kobe would go on to average 40+ ppg a whopping 4 times in his career – this will be Steph’s first if he achieves it this month.
James Harden holds the record for the longest 30-point game streak since the NBA-ABA merger. It stands at an unreal 32 games – a streak which the Beard compiled in 2018-19.
