“Football is in my blood. I would play as long as I was able.”: Former Pro Bowl DB T.J. Ward Announces his retirement after 8 seasons in the NFL.

T.J Ward announced his retirement from the NFL after 8 impressive seasons. A vital member of the Denver Broncos’ “No Fly Zone” is shutting down his patrol zone for good. Ward was essential in the Broncos victorious chase of Super Bowl 50, as the Broncos defence spearheaded the team to their 3^rd Super Bowl victory in franchise history.

Ward was an effective and productive safety. Across his 8 years, he played for the Cleveland Browns, the Denver Broncos and lastly the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  Ward earned two Pro Bowl bids during his career in 2014 and 2015 and compiled 607 tackles, eight interceptions, and 10 forced fumbles. The 34-year-old last played in 2017 for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

T.J Ward announced his retirement on Twitter.

“This period came fast, and yet it felt prolonged,” he said in a statement. “We each have our own journey in this life and in this sport, and I proudly followed mine until my football path was complete. Regardless of the ups and downs, I stayed the course. Football is in my blood. I would play as long as I was able. In the end, I wasn’t allowed to play anymore.”

“I am honored and blessed to have completed 8 NFL years! Second-round draft pick, all-rookie team, all-pro, pro-bowler and Super Bowl 50 champion,” he said. “The journey has been amazing!”

Winning the Lombardi Trophy was the highlight of my career. No Fly! Thank you, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Arizona Cardinals, for also giving me opportunities to be a part of your organizations.”

T.J Ward last played for an NFL team in 2017, when he was a part of the Bucs. T.J Ward auditioned for the Arizona Cardinals last year but did not get the job. A great veteran safety with an impressive career.
