“Stephen Curry has surpassed his MVP season”: Miami Heat sharpshooter Duncan Robinson campaigns for the Warriors superstar to win his 3rd MVP

Miami’s Duncan Robinson believes that Warriors legend Stephen Curry deserves to be in the MVP conversation amid his incredible season.

No shooter in the history of the game has come close to what Stephen Curry has been doing this season. Curry has been in terrific form season. Following the All-Star break, Curry is playing on a different level altogether.

Many NBA analysts and former NBA superstars have the Warriors superstar as their pick for the MVP for this season. As expected, without Klay Thompson, Steph has been forced to carry the majority of the Warriors’ offense.

He has taken up this challenge breaking no sweat, being the NBA’s leading scorer. Miami Heat sharpshooter Duncan Robinson was the latest one campaigning for Curry to be mentioned in MVP conversations.

On “The Long Shot” podcast, Robinson explained why the three-time champ deserves to be mentioned alongside Philly’s Joel Embiid and Denver’s Nikola Jokic.

“He’s done 9 (3PT shots) a game for 5 games straight. One time in my career I’ve hit 10 threes. Four of the last five games he’s done it. You look at his numbers, and he has, I believe at this point, has surpassed his MVP season… It’s incredible what he’s done, he needs to be in this MVP conversation.”

Stephen Curry has been an essential part of this Warriors team. Without the likes of their MVP, the Warriors had a poor record of only 1 win in 8 games. In the last 13 games, since Steph’s return to the lineup, GSW has won 9 of them, defeating top contenders like 76ers, Bucks and Nuggets in that span.

The 6-foot-3 guard, too, believes that he is deserving of the award because of his historic form. But ultimately acknowledged the bitter truth that he wouldn’t be receiving many votes, despite him averaging an incredible 38.2 points in April. Robinson further acknowledged Steph and how no one can even be close to what he has achieved.

“When you watch him play basketball, he is one of the few players in the NBA when you watch them play, where it’s very clear that nobody else in the NBA can do what he’s done.”

Judging him on his individual performance, the future Hall-Of-Famer does deserve his third MVP award. However, the voters won’t be rewarding him because of his team’s overall performance this season. With a .500 30-30 record, GSW is on the 9th spot. Hopefully, in the last 12 games of the regular season, the Warriors manage to improve their standings, strengthen Stephen Curry’s MVP case.
