‘Kevin Durant is the toughest to guard’: Bradley Beal snubs Lebron James and Steph Curry for the ‘best scorer in NBA’ label
Bradley Beal says that Kevin Durant is the toughest player to guard in the NBA due to his 7-foot frame and guard-like abilities.
Bradley Beal is one of the most premiere offensive players in the NBA today. Ever since being drafted in 2013, he played second fiddle to John Wall, a player who was at the time, the clear number one option on the Washington Wizards. However, as time went on and the fragility of Wall’s body started to show, Beal took over as the leading scorer, not just on his team, but in the entire league.
Bradley Beal has nearly every single trick in his bag and he digs deep into this bag each and every night, torching opposing defenses. He’s currently averaging a whopping 31.2 points per game, helping carry the Wizards to a play-in berth out East.
Be that as it may but with offense, also comes to other side of the ball, that being defense. It’s safe to say that Bradley Beal has always been a subpar defender throughout his career. Though his off ball skills are above average, his defense on the ball isn’t particularly noteworthy.
Taking this into regard, it’s no surprise that Brad has a problem defending perhaps the greatest scorer in the history of the NBA.
Bradley Beal admits that guarding Kevin Durant is tougher than guarding any other player in the league.
Kevin Durant is a mismatch for quite literally every single player in the NBA. Standing at nearly 7 feet tall and having a pull up game and handles as smooth as him is unheard of. Durant is a unicorn in this league and Beal recognizes that, giving him his props in a recent interview with ESPN.
“I’m gonna say me, but Kevin Durant. Durant is very tough to guard, only because he’s seven feet tall, and doing everything imaginable.”
It’s tough to argue with Beal here as a plethora of NBA players have had trouble trying to guard Kevin Durant. The 9x All-Defensive guard Kobe Bryant admits that KD is the only superstar he retired without having figured out on how to guard him.
Though there are other players such as Steph Curry and even LeBron James who could’ve been included by Beal here, the Slim Reaper trumps them all due to the fact that he possesses guard-like skills in a center’s body.
