“Steph Curry could beat the Lakers”: Brian Windhorst sends warning to LeBron James and Anthony Davis about facing Warriors star in play in tournament

Brian Windhorst warns LeBron James and the Lakers about facing off against Steph Curry and the Warriors; says he could beat them. 

The Los Angeles Lakers have had a rollercoaster of a season this year to say the least. They’ve sustained a bevy of injuries to their superstars, LeBron James and Anthony Davis, causing them to be sidelined for a hefty chunk of the season. What was thought to be a season run by a potential MVP and DPOY, has turned into fans on social media debating their eligibility for All-NBA teams. 

The Lakers without LeBron James and AD continued to spiral but thanks to their top 2 defense, were able to hold their own against several teams around the league. This however, didn’t stop them from falling into the dreadful play-in tournament; a concept James has criticized before.

After having lost the season series to the Portland TrailBlazers, it is almost certain that the purple and gold will be the 7th seed out West. This would mean that they would secure a date with Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors who are the 8th seed. 

Brian Windhorst believes Steph Curry and the Warriors could beat LeBron James. 

With the play in tournament having a college basketball feel to it due to its one-and-done nature, Brian Windhorst cautions against playing Steph Curry in such a tournament; even LeBron James. 

“Whil I’d argue LeBron James is one of the greatest players and performers of all time; in a one-off game situation, you do not want to see Steph Curry coming into your building. You especially don’t want to see him when he’s hot.”

“So while I think the Lakers are making it into that top-8 spot and I don’t see them losing twice in a row at home, I am really concerned when Steph Curry comes in a one-off game. The Warriors are a flawed team. I don’t think they’re making a run in the postseason in a 7-game series. Maybe Steph gets hot once or twice. But man, watch out at Staple Center next week if that’s what goes down.” 

Considering how big of a LeBron James fan Windy is; if he’s staying cautious of Steph Curry in this scenario, it’s safe to say that the Lakers will have to follow suit. However, as Zach Lowe said, “It’s tough to bet against a healthy LeBron James and Anthony Davis-led team in the Playoffs.”
