“So many different defenders on Luka Doncic, and yet no one could stop him”: Skip Bayless praises the young Mavericks’ star for his performance against Kawhi Leonard and the Clippers
Co-host of the Undefeated Skip Bayless praises Luka Doncic for his brilliant performances against the Clippers despite being heavily guarded
The Los Angeles Clippers are finally on the board. After the two humiliating losses at home, the Clippers came to Dallas to return the favor. They beat the Mavericks 118-108 at home. The star duo of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George did not come to play and combined for a very efficient 65 points. Rajon Rondo provided some excellent defense and decision-making down the stretch to seal the game.
Luka Doncic showed his brilliance like he has been doing so the entire series. He scored a game-high 44 points, grabbed 9 rebounds, and dished 9 assists. The rest of the Mavericks, who were excellent in LA, were nowhere to be found last night. The poor shot percentage from the 2s and poor FT % seemed to hurt the Mavs down the stretch.
Skip Bayless delivers rare praise for Luka Doncic
The Clippers had many woes in the series against the Mavericks. The Mavs were shooting threes at their will and knocking them down at a high percentage. Even in the loss last night, the Mavericks were shooting over 51% from the deep, making 20/39 from beyond the arc. Leading the Mavs offense is the 22-year-old Luka Doncic. He has been an unstoppable force this series. Luka has been averaging 38 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 9 assists this series. He has been putting up these numbers while shooting over 45% from the distance.
Despite having multiple combinations of players guard him, the Clippers cannot seem to find a solution to stop the Slovenian guard. Skip Bayless acknowledges the same. Skip isn’t known to be praising the players he is betting against, but Luka’s performance compelled him to do so.
In all my years covering and studying the NBA, I can’t remember seeing more defenders cover one man in one game. Kawhi, PG, PatBev, MMorris, ReggieJax, Rondo, Batum and TMann all took turns on him. And Zu was occasionally switched onto him. So every Clipper who played guarded him

With the Clippers taking Game 3, the series is alive once again. Game 4 would decide how it goes further. Even though it is hard to predict the result, one thing is guaranteed. Game 4 would be an exciting matchup. The Mavs would try to take a 3-1 lead, while the Clippers would try to level the series. Game 4 takes place tonight.
