“Kevin Durant and Manu Ginobili”: Warriors’ forward Draymond Green names the toughest players he ever had to guard in his career
Warriors star forward Draymond Green talks about the players he finds the toughest to guard, leaves out LeBron James, Kobe Bryant
The Golden State Warriors have faced the best and the worst of the league in the past few years. They’ve been at the top, and they’ve been at the absolute rock bottom as well. The Warriors rose to the top, riding on the success of their draft picks Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green. The addition of Kevin Durant in 2016 just bolstered them to an all-new height of success.
During their journey to the top, the roles on the team were pretty well cut out. Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson handled the majority of the scoring, whereas Draymond Green called the shots on the defensive end. More often than not, it meant that Green had to guard the opponents’ best player. Draymond never shied away from the challenge, and always rose to the occasion.
Draymond Green finds these two players the hardest to defend
During his 9 years in the league, Green has had the opportunity to take the defensive assignment of some of the league’s best players. He has gone up against greats such as Kobe Bryant, and GOAT candidates like LeBron James. However, when asked who did he find the toughest to guard, those two were nowhere on the list.
Green had already mentioned in the past that KD is probably the hardest player he has ever had to guard. In his recent AMA with Bleacher Report, he added another name to the list. Manu Ginobili. Draymond mentioned KD is almost as close as impossible to guard as one can get. Green mentioned Manu and said that the Argentine legend’s euro step was basically unstoppable.
Draymond reveals two hardest players he’s ever guarded: “Kevin Durant is impossible to guard, but he is as close to impossible as it gets. And Manu Ginobili, he used to move downhill, but moving sideways. The moment you see him moving to the left — euro step.” pic.twitter.com/II3tXWkmZU

It isn’t often that Green compliments players who have gone up against his defense. The 31-year-old has already won a Defensive Player of the Year trophy and is the finalist in the race to this year’s trophy as well.
