“I just want to be an efficient player”: Klay Thompson does not want to set high expectations in his comeback season
Warriors star Klay Thompson sets realistic goals for his return next season, talks about making a positive impact whenever he’s on the court
Yesterday Klay Thompson took it to his Instagram and got on a live video. Any Warriors fan who was watching the live would be feeling 100x better about the upcoming months now. Klay Thompson looks healthy and happy. He was living his best life on the boat and showing off his singing and rapping.
Staying happy is hard for someone who has been through two devastating injuries one after the other. Klay suffered an ACL injury in the 2019 Finals, which ruled him out for over a year. After getting better for the 2020-21 season, he suffered an Achilles tear which ruled him out for yet another year. Despite all the hardships, Klay has found ways to stay positive, and that is a great sign for the Warriors fans.
Klay Thompson shares his goals for the next season
Amidst all the fun, there were Warriors fans excited to hear about Klay’s plans for the next season. Draymond Green and Stephen Curry have individually put the league on notice about the next season. However, Klay hadn’t spoken about any such thing yet. When someone asked him about his goals for the upcoming season, Klay answered in the most Klay way possible.
Thompson kept it real, and didn’t set any high expectations off of himself. After not having played for two years, neither wants to burden himself, nor do we. All Klay wants is to have a positive impact whenever he’s on the floor.
“How many points am I gonna average next year? You know, I’m not gonna put an expectation on it. I just wanna be an efficient player. I don’t care how many points I score but I wanna have positive impact every time on the hardwood. That real plus/minus stuff. That analytical stuff.”

The entire Dubnation would be happy just to see Klay donning the #11 jersey on the hardwood floor again. Sure his teammates have high expectations from him, but as long as he’s healthy and having a good time, that’s all we care about.
