“More and more focused on creating a show” – Sebastian Vettel not too impressed with standing start after Verstappen red flag at Baku
“More and more focused on creating a show” – Sebastian Vettel has expressed surprise with the decision to opt for a standing restart after the Max Verstappen crash caused a Red Flag, with just two laps to go in the race.
Sebastian Vettel is a traditionalist in the true sense of the word. What impresses his huge fan base the most is the fact that he isn’t even present on social media, despite being a four-time world champion, and one of the most successful drivers in the history of the sport.
A day like today is only possible when a team works as one.

Sebastian Vettel grabbed Azerbaijan GP podium
The former Red Bull and Ferrari driver is not overly supportive of the sprint qualifying races, either. So it was no surprise when he questioned the idea of a race restart with just two laps at Baku yesterday when Autosport pointed it out to him in the post-race press conference yesterday.
The decision by FIA Race Director Michael Masi helped him though. With Lewis Hamilton suffering from a brake failure, Vettel finished on the podium in P2. But he would have liked it to be a running restart, just like most races are.
“It has become more and more like this in the past, more and more focused on creating a show, so I hope that in the future the races are more exciting.”
“I think it was probably an exciting race for various things happening and so on, but yeah, I think we just need to watch out that it doesn’t become too artificial and we don’t lose the roots of the sport.
“I was wondering a little bit why it took so long for the second time when Max had the shunt, for the Safety Car to come out because it was quite clear that he was standing in the middle of the track and it took a little bit longer but we will see. We will find out why.”
