“So happy Michael Jordan beat anti-vaxxer John Stockton in 2 NBA Finals”: NBA Fans blast Jazz legend Stockton for spreading Covid-19 conspiracy theories in new documentary

John Stockton has caused a furore among NBA fans after featuring in a documentary that broadcasts Covid-19 conspiracy theories.

The former Jazz legend holds some virtually unassailable assists and steals records through 19 years in the league. He’s held up as one of the greatest point guards of all time and as the prototypical playmaker.

He’s led a life away from the public eye for the most part since retirement. However, he’s been prominently featured in a documentary that spreads Covid-19 misinformation to the public. This has brought him squarely back in the public eye. This is what he says in one clip:

“This isn’t a virus cheating us of this opportunity and the guys making decisions are saying ‘No no, we’re too scared. We gotta shut everything down, sit at home and be careful.'”

“My kids and my grandkids are hearing these things and accepting them as truth. I know by my significant amount of research that it isn’t and it’s very frustrating.”

NBA fans are thankful to Michael Jordan for beating John Stockton in 2 Finals

As expected, people are all over the Jazz legend on NBA Twitter. After all, we’ve spent the better part of the past 2 years trying to stop the spread of Covid-19 related misinformation.

Now some steps taken by the social media giants to curb this misinformation are quite plainly wrong. Censoring any and every post that speculated about the lab leak theory was definitely an overreach by those platforms.

But at the same time, scientific consensus and well-cited research is what needs to prevail in the public eye. John Stockton is actively sabotaging these efforts by partaking in a documentary that will likely destabilize Covid vaccination drives. Thus, NBA fans are on his back.

Jordan with 50% of his athleticism and Pippen with no back beating those clowns in the Finals is so much more satisfying now.
