“If Luka Doncic was up on a #1 seed, they’d make statues for him”: Kendrick Perkins is irked by lack of respect for Trae Young, while subtly taking a dig at Mavs’ superstar
NBA Analyst Kendrick Perkins is unhappy about the lack of attention given to Trae Young, takes a subtle shot at Luka Doncic at the same time
Trae Young has established himself as one of the league’s best long-range shooters. In just his third NBA season, Trae has proven himself to be among the best players in the league. Of course, the sky is the roof for the youngster and no doubt, he will be one of the future faces of our league.
This season, the 6-foot-1 guard led his Atlanta Hawks to the 5th seed with an impressive 41-31 record. No doubt, Young has increased his level of production in the playoffs when it mattered the most. He has been breaking down the defense and tearing teams apart at his own will.
Amid an incredible Eastern Conference Semis, almost no one expected the Hawks to give the Philadelphia 76ers such a tough fight. However, the 1-time All-Star has decided to take his team on his back and is hoping to carry them over the line. Despite his terrific performances, fans have been talking about Philly’s collapse rather than Trae’s greatness. One such NBA analyst has taken notice of this and addressed it on his Twitter.
“Y’all wanna talk about Philly collapsing rather than Trae Young’s greatness”: Kendrick Perkins
After an incredible Game 5 performance, mounting a 26-point comeback against Philly at the Wells Fargo Center, analyst Kendrick Perkins blasted all the people who don’t appreciate the Hawks’ 22-year-old and his talents. Perkins also called out the NBA community, comparing the difference in treatment given to Trae Young and Dallas star Luka Doncic.
Kendrick took it to Twitter and wrote,
“Trae Young looks like an All-NBA player tonight got Damn it. I told y’all it was an Ice Storm in June and Philadelphia was one of the cities that were getting it the worse. Ice Trae brought a 39 piece wing dinner lemon pepper Lou style to Ben Simmons and the 76ers! Carry on…”
Now hold up got damn it! Y’all wanna talk about Philly collapsing instead of talking about the greatness of Trae Young. If Luka was up on the number 1 seed they would be preparing a statue for him. Give Trae the same energy! Carry on..

Kendrick Perkins does have a point. In only his first postseason appearance, Ice Trae has not shied away from the big stage. Rather, the sharpshooter has been averaging a staggering 29.4 points. 10.3 assists and 1.2 steals per game. Young is well on his way to set an upset against title contenders Philadelphia 76ers.
The series now goes down to the wire to the last game. With Game 7 tipping off on Sunday at 8 PM ET, Trae Young can add a feather in his cap if he successfully manages to lead the Hawks to their first Conference Finals since 2015.
