“Ben Simmons missed more free throws these playoffs than Steve Nash in his career”: Ghastly stat about Sixers guard goes viral on NBA Twitter
Ben Simmons has missed more free throws these last two series than Phoenix legend Steve Nash did in his entire postseason career.
Throughout the 2020-2021 NBA season, the Philadelphia 76ers have been in red hot form. After their latest year’s playoffs debacle, the team looked more determined and did play with a vengeance.
Behind the All-Star duo of MVP candidate Joel Embiid and DPOY finalist Ben Simmons, the Sixers went on to finish their season with the best record in the Eastern Conference.
Definitely, Philly was one of the legit title-contending team. Despite being star-studded, a young and inexperienced Trae Young-led Atlanta Hawks team, handed the Sixers their fourth straight early playoffs exit, after an incredible 103-96 Game 7 win.
It was yet another subpar outing for the Simmons. The Australian born 24-year-old put up 5 points, 13 assists and 8 rebounds in the 36 minutes of playing time he saw the court.
Throughout this postseason, the 2018 ROY has been underwhelming. Averaging only 12/8/9, it’s his free-throw shooting that has caused most of the problems for him this year.

Ben shot exceptionally poor from the charity stripe throughout his career. However, the 3-time All-Star had an all-time worst performance from the free-throw like this postseason. Shooting at an unacceptable 34.2%, Simmons knocked down only 25 of 73 shots from the line these two series.
A wild stat comparing Ben and current head coach of Brooklyn Nets Steve Nash shows just how pathetic the “Fresh Prince” has been these playoffs from the line. The 6-foot-11 swingman has missed more free throws (48) than former Phoenix legend Nash did in his entire playoffs career (44).

That’s wild.

NBA fans took note of this crazy stat and decided to blast Philly’s All-Defensive player.
I still cant believe an NBA organization allowed a PF to be a PG for 5 years. And gave him a max contract without ever shooting a jumpshot. I’ll never get over it

It’s not wild, it’s unacceptable and a complete failure

While we can’t outrightly blame Ben Simmon’s free-throw shooting, it was one of the major reasons for Philly’s yet another disappointing playoffs exit.
It is something that the former LSU Tiger has to prioritize to work on this offseason to avoid teams from using the ‘Hack-A-Ben’ strategy next season.
