“Way to sell the foul Chris Paul”: Patrick Beverley hilariously gives the Suns star props for overexaggerating on getting fouled in the Clippers Game 5 win

Patrick Beverley tells Chris Paul that he sold the foul well after the Suns star fell straight on his back during the Game 5 Clippers victory. 

Paul George and the Los Angeles Clippers showed up and showed out in last night’s win-or-go-home Game 5. PG, Marcus Morris, and Reggie Jackson combined for 86 of the Clippers’ 116 total points, with the aforementioned All-Star dropping a postseason career high, 41 points. Chris Paul on the other hand, didn’t have all too great of a night. 

Though Paul did drop 22 points and 8 assists on subpar shooting from the field, he was on the receiving end of several lowlights throughout the game. The 3rd quarter in particular, was one that was chalked full of Chris Paul getting the short end of the stick.

There was, of course, Paul George crossing him over around the 4:40 mark of the third. This moment would spread like wildfire across the internet, becoming the highlight of the night of PG’s career night. However, about a minute prior to this crossover, Chris Paul was fouled quite hard by Patrick Beverley, causing him to take a rather scary tumble onto the hardwood. 

Chris Paul gets told by Patrick Beverley that he sold the foul quite well. 

Regardless of how hard Patrick Beverley fouled Chris Paul, the leap he took into the air to eventually fall on his back seemed to have been a tad bit over the top. Pat Bev took notice of this and even mocked CP3’s exaggerated ‘flop’, which ultimately resulted in a Flagrant 1 being called on him. 

However, as both teams were gearing up to resume play, the cameras couldn’t help but notice what Beverley whispered into Paul’s ear as he walked past him. It was quite clear that Pat said, “Way to sell it,” to the Suns All-Star, hilariously giving him props for essentially, flopping.

It’s quite ironic that Patrick Beverley is pressed about an opposing player flopping when he’s one of the most notorious floppers in the NBA today. Fans online have the perfect statement to summarize this moment between the two undersized guards: Game recognizes game.
