“Jayson Tatum ain’t getting bullied by anyone next season!” Pictures from training camp reveal the incredible change the Celtics star has made to his body
Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum has finally discovered how to take his game to the next level and is putting in the work this offseason.
Jayson Tatum is downright incredible. At just 23-years-old, he is already climbing up to the level of the best stars in the game today. In fact, on the offensive end of the floor, he is quietly becoming a top-7 player in the league.
That being said, there is still work to be done. The Celtics star has sometimes been prone to be erratic and reckless. Moreover, while he has the raw tools to be elite on the inside, he isn’t quite there yet. But, it seems that the player has finally started to work on it.
Recently a picture of Tatum from training camp was released. And in them, there is a slight, but very noticeable change in his body.
Let’s get into it.
Jayson Tatum puts on lean muscle in training camp to find a new level the next season
Tatum is one of the most skilled players in the NBA today, there is no question there. But, what he has lacked for a little while now, is the adequate muscle to force the issue on the inside.
Don’t get us wrong. He has absolutely improved in that department and we also know he is more a perimeter player than anything else. However, every elite scorer needs to know how to catch opposing defenses on the inside. And that comes with muscle and functional strength that can be used against elite defenders.
One thing to be wary though is that too much muscle can lead to a severe drop in agility. But it seems the Boston Celtics staff and Jayson Tatum know this. Take a look at the tweet below.

For a guy like him who is supremely skilled, but doesn’t rely purely on his fast twitch as much as he does the use of his body on his moves…this was the next step. pic.twitter.com/JvRIr3xEyB

As we said, the change in the Celtics star’s body is slight at first, but can’t be ignored once noticed. And, given that he has already made so much progress this early on in the offseason, we can’t wait to see the jump he takes during the franchise’s next campaign.
