“Kobe Bryant would ask me to finish the job”: Devin Booker keeps his foot on the gas ahead of NBA Finals Game 2 vs Milwaukee Bucks
Devin Booker has earned comparisons to Kobe Bryant with his incredible play in this postseason. The 24-year-old thinks he knows what the Mamba would advise him.
The Phoenix Suns will look to go up 2-0 in their NBA Finals encounter with the Milwaukee Bucks tonight. It’ll be a game where the likes of Giannis and Devin Booker will all be expected to go full throttle.
Game 2s are usually pivotal in determining the flow of a series. While the Suns were able to put together a great Game 1 performance, the Bucks will come back strong. And the Suns will need to be prepared for that onslaught – particularly from 2xMVP Giannis Antetokounmpo.

However, they’re also betting favorites heading into this series. They’re definitely playing like favorites at the moment. It remains to be seen how well they keep up this level of play.
But it’s quite clear that they have it in their wherewithal to sustain their current level of play. They’ve displayed remarkable consistency on both ends of the floor through 3 series thus far.
“Kobe Bryant would ask me to finish the job”: Devin Booker
Booker was in a short interview with ESPN sideline reporter Malika Andrews ahead of Game 2 tonight. Andrews kept bringing up how Booker’s idol in Kobe would advise him ahead of this pivotal game. Booker had the perfect answer in his locker.
Malika Andrews: Kobe Bryant is one of the legendary winners of this game and you have the ‘Be Legendary’ tattoo like him. Have you reflected at all on what he has done as you are now trying to do it?
Devin Booker: I mean I’ve reflected on it mostly my whole childhood and career, honestly. Just taking bits and pieces, you know the approach, the mentality. The competitive nature of what he did.

You don’t have to be a basketball player to understand what Kobe has done for people with his mindset and approach to the game. That’s something I’ll take the most from him.
Malika Andrews: Have you thought about what he might say to you given what you’re going through right now? Or something that you might wanna ask him?
Devin Booker: Finish the job, that’s what he’d tell me. I know that right now. He’d say get it done, and that’s what we’re trying to do.
