“Devin Booker, how frustrated are you for Chris Paul?”: Suns stars deflect an awkward question in NBA Finals post-game interviews after Game 5 loss
Chris Paul and Devin Booker were crestfallen enough after a deflating loss on the night without a reporter rubbing salt on their wounds.
Devin Booker had his second straight 40-point game in a Finals loss tonight. But the one play that will haunt him till Game 6 tips off is a pivotal turnover that he committed late in the game.
Game 5 was a roller-coaster ride of emotions for every fanbase. Phoenix started the game off hot, but Jrue Holiday’s excellent play got the Bucks back in the game by halftime.
Khris Middleton began heating up soon after himself, and the Bucks surged ahead in the 3rd quarter. They were able to make it a 14-point lead for themselves before Monty Williams called a timeout.
Chris Paul led a spirited fightback by the Suns, who cut their deficit to just 1 point in 56.6s remaining. However, what could have been a famous turnaround for them was ultimately shattered by some hero ball by Booker.
DBook had tallied over 40 points by that play, so he was definitely feeling in control of the situation. With PJ Tucker guarding him, Booker ventured into the paint to get separation for an elbow jumper on the opposite end of the floor.
But he hadn’t bargained for Jrue Holiday’s help defense. The defensive ace swooped in neatly for the steal, chugged ahead in transition and threw the perfect lob for Giannis. This sequence essentially put paid to their hopes of a comeback win.

Booker and Paul were measured during their post-game interviews, however. They took responsibility for the Suns’ barren offensive periods, acknowledging the lack of ball movement that had caused this.
But when it came to talking about their true feelings, Booker and Paul weren’t upfront. In truth, it was a thoughtless question by the reporter given how both of them had given everything on the night.
“Obviously it was a tough loss for you. Devin, how frustrated for Chris are you right now?”
Perhaps ‘Next question’ was the most amicable response possible to such a question.
