“Tired of Twitter and the fake Damian Lillard news”: Blazers MVP seemingly irked by trade rumors surrounding his potential departure from Portland
Damian Lillard takes to Twitter to debunk yet another rumor surrounding his relationship with the Blazers and what he wants from them.
With the 2021 offseason well underway, the NBA trade rumor mill has been busy churning out ‘gossip’ every day. The ‘big fish’ going into the 2021-22 season is undoubtedly Damian Lillard, a superstar who’s not even on the trading block. With no big name free agents this summer, hypotheticals surrounding potentially disgruntled superstars like Bradley Beal and Dame is all that’s being covered in the tabloids.
Regarding the situation with Damian Lillard and the Blazers front office, much has happened since their disappointing loss to the Nuggets in the first round. Everything from the Chauncey Billups debacle to Henry Abbott, seemingly out of nowhere, claiming Lillard has requested a trade to cities like Los Angeles or New York; Neil Olshey has a tough offseason ahead of him.
According to Olshey, every conversation he’s had with Dame has resulted in the All-NBA talent leaning towards staying in Portland. Lillard however, told Chris Haynes or Yahoo Sports that a change needed to be made to the roster because its current iteration isn’t a contender.
Damian Lillard replies to another rumor with a single emoji.
Another rumor that’s spread is that Damian Lillard is alright with giving up a large chunk of his salary if it means the Blazers can pursue more talent to surround him with. Dame immediately took to Twitter to react to this with a simple face-palming emoji.

Looks like the Oakland native has made it clear that this is a bogus report and that he’ll most certainly keep every penny of the contract he’s signed to for the next four years. When a fan speculated that Dame was tired of the constant chatter around his name on Twitter, the Blazers superstar replied with, “Deada**.”

With guys like CJ McCollum, Anfernee Simons, Zach Collins, and almost the entirety of their roster having little to no trade value, it’ll be interesting to see what the Blazers look like on the opening night.
